Matchday 5 best bets

The Premier League is back after the international break, and Matchday 5 is set to be a good one. Unbeaten West Ham United will be tested as they host the reigning champions, Manchester City, at the London Stadium. Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool will also try to stay hot and remain undefeated in their matches. Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle United will look to right the ship after a disappointing start to the season.

 West ham VS. man city

Odds (Via DraftKings Sportsbook): West Ham (+500) vs. Man City (-175) Draw (+330)

Pick: Man City Spread -1.5 (+155)

Manchester City is looking to maintain their perfect start and continue their quest for four straight Premier League titles. West Ham is coming into this match in great form as this is their best start to a Premier League campaign since the 99-00 season. This will be the Hammers' toughest test to date, and unfortunately for them, they are winless in their last 15 Premier League games against Man City (12 defeats and three draws).

I am picking Man City -1.5 because of possession, shots conceded per game, and Erling Haaland's ability to finish. According to FCTables.com, Man City has the second-highest ball possession percentage per game (68.50), while the Hammers have the third-worst ball possession percentage (36.00). On top of Man City possessing the ball nearly 70 percent of the time, they are also getting the fourth most shots off per game (17) and second most shots on target per game (6.5), while West Ham is also conceding the fourth most shots per game at an average of 18 per game. These stats, coupled with Haaland's ability to score goals, lead me to believe that Man City should win this matchup by a margin of two or more goals.
